Otofonix Elite, a digital personal hearing amplifier was designed to be as comfortable to wear as it is effective. Specifically aimed at those who have difficulty functioning due to their reduced hearing capacity, the device is noted to be able to assist with problem areas, such as soft speech and conversation in busy environments. Although digital personal hearing devices are not regulated by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) – unlike traditional hearing aids – the Otofonix has been subjected to rigorous and thorough testing by ENT and Audiologists alike, with the universal opinion being that it offers exceptional sound quality and highly accurate output.

The Otofonix Elite personal hearing amplifier has a host of features that separate it from many other digital hearing devices.

Benefits of Otofonix Elite Sound Amplifier

Extensive Battery Life

The Otofonix Elite personal hearing amplifier has a host of features that separate it from many other digital hearing devices. One of these is its extensive battery life, which the creator's claim can last for between 7 and 10 days depending on usage. When the device gets to low power, an indicator will let the wearer know, so that they can easily replace the batteries.

Unobtrusive and Discrete Design

Designed to be unobtrusive and discrete, the Elite only measures 25.5mm on its longest size, with a thickness of 7.5mm. Otofonix also claims that its open fit design eliminates the common “plugged and stuffy sensation” that is felt by many hearing aids or personal amplification device user and is actually very comfortable to wear.

4 Different Sounds Amplification Channels

There are 4 different channels to select from Normal, which will provide amplification to all sounds; Noisy, which is designed to reduce background noise; Treble, which can reduce irritating high-pitched frequencies; and Power, which provides greater amplification when sounds need that extra boost.

12 Bands and 10 Volume Levels

There are also 12 bands (meaning that the personal amplifier will work in places that have T-loop systems – such as banks and post offices), and output limiting, which is designed to ensure that the device remains quiet and distracting.

The 10 volume levels that the hearing amplifier features are easily adjustable with a single finger, meaning the device doesn’t have to be removed in order to raise or lower the levels.

Suitable for Traveling

Otofonix clearly hasn't cut corners to save on costs. Aside from the personal hearing amplifier itself and instruction manual, inside the box is a protective travel case to keep the device safe when on the move. In addition, there are two formed sound tubes (which are different sizes to allow custom fitting) three dome ear tips (small, medium and large), a pack of six batteries, a cleaning brush, and a cleaning wire. They also provide a 45-day hassle free return policy as well as free live phone support should any technical issues arise whilst using the hearing amplifier.

However, it is very important to note that a sound amplifier should not be used as a self-prescription in substitute for visiting a healthcare professional. It could be that hearing loss is the result of something treatable, and avoiding medical advice could worsen a reversible condition. Hyperacusis (sensitivity to sound) could also be caused by relying on a device to amplify sounds when the wearer should be relying on their natural senses instead. In addition, the device itself has come under a little scrutiny with certain reviewers claiming that it didn’t fit their ears properly, or that even though the device claims to be quiet, they could hear feedback. Although, with products that are designed to serve larger groups of people rather than being bespoke to individuals, it is not uncommon that some won’t be able to adapt to the product as well as others, or may experience issues that are not perceived by the general consumer. As with most medical products, the experience can be somewhat subjective, and it is something that should be tried to see if the benefits work for the individual.
